Red Dead Redemption 2's Map

Red Dead Redemption 2's trailers are revealing more details about the game all the time, but one particular gold mine of information comes from a leaked Red Dead Redemption 2 map.

While Rockstar has not yet unveiled the Red Dead Redemption 2 map to the public, fans have been able to piece together information to give us an idea of the layout.
Using your dead eye, players will notice the location on the bottom left of the map is the same Tall Trees and Great Plains regions that featured in the first Red Dead Redemption.

Now this would undoubtedly mean we will visit the Blackwater location again, even though Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel, meaning this would actually be our first visit to Blackwater and what will become John Marston's home.

It could be that this will be a starting location in the game or that Red Dead Redemption 2's story will loop around to include this location, as a means of tying up the games plot.

Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have even gone as far as to lay the maps from the first and the second game side by side for comparison.

By comparing the Red Dead Redemption 2 map to the first game's map we can notice it's bigger, but not by a great deal - which is good news. More than often a bigger map in open world games means lots of nothing and a shit load of travelling.

The increase in map size will meet Red Dead Redemption 2's players demands in wanting a bigger world, without forcing Rockstar to fill the game with useless tat.

One thing that did get my interest was how much water was on display in the map and how we have two distinct islands within that body of water.

Now this of course means we'll have some kick arse views overlooking that huge lake, but more importantly it could mean we'll be able to travel over water.

I can't tell you how pissed off I was in the first Red Dead Redemption, playing as the bad arse John Marston who guns down countless bad guys and even bears, only to be completely destroyed by a 4 inch puddle of water.

Who knows if in Red Dead Redemption 2 you will be able to swim or if you will use a boat of some kind to visit these locations.

It would add a fun new way of getting around if Red Dead Redemption 2 did include a boat and would make sense as they have that huge lake and a few rivers cutting the map up.

The RDR map details are still up in the air at the moment and even if Red Dead Redemption 2 will be on PC, so I'll keep you posted with all the Red Dead Redemption 2 news as I find out.

If you're planning on revisiting Red Dead Redemption before you play the new game, then you may want to watch Red Dead Redemption's Untold Story to get you in the mood.
