With regards to which stocks to buy, I would recommend to stick to what you know. Research companies you like buying things from. You know by using them whether they are a good place to buy things or not.
Then you just need to look into the companies fundamentals. See if they earn a lot of money and if they have potential to grow. There by increasing the value of your share.
Where you can, try to seek out a dividend.

Use only money you would have wasted
Waste money
People needlessly waste money they haven’t got on drunken nights out. Only to wake up Monday morning complaining how little money they earn.
Well instead of that football ticket, those over priced pubs and clubs, the overpriced food and the over priced clothes you buy to show off on this one weekend. Instead add up all the cost of those things you would have splashed out on and use the money to invest in your future.
In the worst case scenario you lose the same amount you would have lost anyway - and your liver will thank you.
