Dead Island Recap

Dead Island Story

It might have been awhile since playing Dead Island had you on the beaches of Banoi working on your tan line and hacking up zombies into Sushi rolls with your machete(ooh, like the one I made in the Roley Builds Dead Island Junk Machete video). So you might not remember Dead Island's story before you play Dead Island 2. Well don't get sand in your vagina, Roley has you covered with the best Dead Island recap video you could ever watch.

In all fairness it is easy to miss the Dead Island lore altogether, as you get lost in all the action and showing everyone your new trainers. But lucky for you I'm one of those guys who has to trawl every pixel of a game I like playing and make excellent videos, two skills that are handy for this type of work.

Now I have to say I've only played Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide, both of which I enjoyed, so I couldn't pass anything on to you about the other games. Like I say in the video, they looked like wanky cash grabs to me, so I gave them a wide birth. As for buying Dead Island 2, I'll wait until it's been out for a bit and then make up my mind. I hope it's good, I really do, as games are getting proper turtle, so I don't get that much to chose from.

Some of the things from Dead Island will make it into future videos and no I'm not just talking about that machete I made in real life from the game you silly sausage. Besides you've already had a link to that at the top of this little chat
the only downside, is the people it attracts
I have to admit I'm a sucker for a good zombie game like Dead Island. The only downside to zombie games and I do mean the only downside, is the people it attracts. I don't mean those who play zombie games, more the intellectual retards, you know the type the 'oh how creative a new zombie has been made' cock gobbling crowd. I mean just think how stupid you have to be to moan about a zombie game being shallow or the very existence of a new game being made from an established category of game be a 'bad' thing. You probably can't because you're awesome, after all you are watching my videos and reading my words (ok maybe you're not awesome yet, but you're on your way). You might have to duct tape your head to a road breaker (those shaky things used by men to break up roads, if the name was too technical) for your brain to turn to mush, so you can see their point of view.

Far from being over, I think zombie games have (hopefully) a long and bright future ahead, with many developers being able to create spin-off zombie games, as well as sticking to a better known type of zombie game.

The only gripe I have with Dead Island (I know some people had technical trouble with the game, but I didn't) was the misleading trailer. There was so much in the way of emotion in that teaser, that I and many of you, thought that Dead Island was going to have quite a deep story. That was a bit of a shit trick that shouldn't be forgotten. It'd be like me saying I was going to make a detailed video on the subject of world war 2 and then leading you to a room where you smash a metric fuckton on melons with a barbed wire baseball bat. It would be insanely fun, not the thought provoking subject you bought into though.

In the aim of fairness we need to set out guidelines for the industry and gamers about trailers, teasers and gameplay. Like I said in the Pillard Effect, we're a bit slow sometimes in coming up with words for the evolving landscape of gaming. We need something that works for everyone. Game developers want you to get emotionally invested in a game, while gamers want a clear picture into what the game will deliver, before they consider buying into this new gaming world. At the minute the line between tickling your emotional ball-bag and being a lying shitstain is as wide as a full stop.
Fool me once, what can I say? Fool me twice, there's a kick in the balls heading your way.
Despite the Dead Island trailer being misleading, I actually like it. You can't not like it. The music and action on screen are bob on and what's more is that they pulled it off again with the Dead Island Riptide trailer, which was also top banana. Fool me once, what can I say? Fool me twice, there's a kick in the balls heading your way.

But the developers of Dead Island look like they've learned not to pull that trick with the trailer for Dead Island 2, either that or they thought they couldn't get away with it for a third time. So they went with jokey and showing Dead Island 2 gameplay that amounts to smashing melons with fancy graphics - perfect that's what the game is.

Problem is those emotional Dead Island trailers are what we bought into, so yeah we'll buy Dead Island for a bit of thoughtless fun with a story tact on the side like a dodgie weapon mod - but like the zombies we smell blood.

A talented team created those trailers with their story telling and music, gamers bought those games on the false promise that that is what we'd get. A deep, story driven, emotional game set to the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse - so why in fucks name has no one delivered the goods? That's the question I was left with after I made this Dead Island recap video, with me going back and playing Dead Island once again.

A word of warning, if you haven't bought or played Dead Island or Dead Island Riptide yet, that currently they have a bucket load of hate in the reviews on Steam, for Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead island Riptide Definitive Edition - so give that a look first.

As for my Dead Island Recap video, well that's one thing the developer couldn't fuck up, no matter how many times you watch it.
